Born in Brno on 23 April 1979.

Jan Kuzel learned violin making from his father. He passed final examinations at the Musical Instruments School in Luby near Cheb. He worked together with his father in the atelier at Kopecná 32 till the end of 2001. Since 2002 he works independently in a new atelier at Cajkovského 39. He makes new violins, violas and cellos and he has also experience in renovation of historical instruments and repairs. New instruments are made mostly according to the Guarneri model.

Jan Kuzel participated in several international contests. At V. Metelka contest in Nachod (1997) he was awarded a diploma for the cut of violin head. Besides that he also participated in contest in Paris (1999) and Poznan (2001)- diploma for participaction in 2nd round of competition.

He performs in several folk dulcimer bands. Jan Kužel is the first violinist of the dulcimer band "Moravský kalíšek" (A Goblet of Moravia).
